The cause of the loosening is actually mainly UV radiation. The plasticizers disappear from the PVC coating, making the coating brittle, hard and susceptible to cracking. Over time, it starts to loosen due to damage, scratches and the effects of moisture. The new series of plastisols have been greatly improved and delamination therefore occurs less often.

Delamination often starts with a small piece, but the consequences can often be severe over time. Coatings on entire facades or roofs can start to come loose and, due to weather influences, may even fall off completely.
