Application of Energy-Saving Roof Coating

In our country, temperatures can rise significantly. In the summer, air conditioning systems often run at full capacity to keep indoor temperatures manageable. With a reflective energy coating applied to the roof (and facade), less cooling is needed. This makes the indoor climate more pleasant and significantly reduces energy costs.

Reflective energy coatings are environmentally friendly and resistant to heat, frost, dirt, moss, and more. In many cases, the reflective coating is applied in combination with a waterproof, filling coating as a base layer. Depending on the slope and type of roof, openings, and applied insulation, the temperature reduction can reach between 5-8 degrees.

Not only does the coating slow down temperature increases, resulting in lower energy consumption for cooling, but it also improves the comfort of the space by reducing movement and stress in steel roofs and facades. It creaks and shifts less, which is beneficial for both employees and the structure.

FAQ

I have a dent or damage in my door or frame; can you repair something like that invisibly?

In many cases, the damage can simply be repaired invisibly, depending on the local conditions and the state of the substrate and maintenance performed. Our skilled professionals successfully work daily on both new construction and buildings that are 30-40 years old, so there is much that can be done.

What products do you use, is it the same as what is on the original?

Overhead doors, for example, are equipped with a coil coating in 9 out of 10 cases, also known as pre-painted steel or aluminum. For instance, a colorcoat prism, PVDF, silicone polyester, HPS plastisol, etc. Coil coating is a factory-applied process under high temperature, which cannot be used for repairs. Frames and facades, as well as pedestrian doors, are often coated with powder coating, which is an electrostatic process combined with temperature, also factory work under controlled and constant conditions.

In any case, these are excellent substrates for our paint systems. The products we use originate from the automotive industry and are specially developed and applicable for repair work on sandwich panels and profiles. The paints seamlessly match the durability and appearance of the applied coil coat. We are familiar with all types of coating systems and have the most common colors in stock.

How does that work with color differences?

No color or building is the same. Every new coil, despite having the same RAL code or name, has a different color or hue. This is often due to the fact that most pigments for paints and coatings are derived from natural sources, which can lead to variations between deliveries. In the case of metallic finishes, there is another dimension referred to in industry jargon as “flop,” which describes how the metallic particles rest on the surface and can create a light/dark effect. It’s similar to a long-haired carpet: the color itself doesn’t change, but if you rub over it, you can create light and dark spots.

Buildings and cladding fade over the years, and one of our areas of expertise is that we “retint” the color on-site with the right pigments to match the existing color.

Van Heemskerk masters the techniques to mix the most suitable color during repairs. We strive to make repairs “invisibly unnoticeable” to the satisfaction of our customers.

What is your work area?

We work both nationally and internationally; we are active throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany on a daily basis. We are also project-based active far beyond, such as in North and South America and the Middle East.

Who do you work for?

We work for reputable panel manufacturers, building owners or tenants, property managers, assembly companies, construction companies, and private individuals.

Do you also repair other materials?

Yes, the application range is very broad; please refer to other sections on the website, such as the repair of sandwich panels and cladding. We also encounter composite and wood constructions. We usually have a solution even if it is not listed on the site.
